¿?¿Questions?¿?

"Questions, I've got some questions

But what if I could ask you only one thing

You're probably asking how Jack Johnson could inspire such a deep theological disturbance within a single person, but if you look at these lyrics and pretend- just for a moment- that you are saying this to Jesus. I feel like every non-Christian and especially every Christian faces these Questions. One could continue to question God's:

"Impressions, you've made impressions
They're going nowhere
They're just going to wait here if you let them
Please don't let them
I want to know you
And if they're going to haunt me
Please collect them
Please just collect them
And now I'm begging
I'm begging you to ask me just one question
One simple question
Because then you'd know me
I'll tell you that there's time
To make this work for all intents and purposes
At least for my own
What is a heart worth if it's just left all alone?
Leave it long enough and watch it turn into stone
Why must we always be untrue"

Now I don't know your intentions or purposes, but for that matter I can barely keep track of my own. I know that I want to serve and please God, but I find sometimes that I am a little shaky on the execution of such service and pleasure. We are all afraid, I feel, that we are inadequate and will disappoint God and wind up with a heart turned to stone and a fate worse than death. But here's the thing, we are inadequate and already have disappointed God with every sin we make. That's the beauty of Grace though, and we can receive it if we answer just one question, "Whom do you say is Lord?". So while we do not have all of the pieces to the puzzle, we have a million questions, we are saved by just one and even though we always end up being untrue as a part of our human nature, that one question trumps all else. Religion is a confusing thing sometimes, but faith in God, that He will answer all of your questions, makes it just a little easier. There are some questions that can be answered in the Bible and indeed are. I also find, though, that the Bible leaves new things unanswered, and thus, the "vicious" cycle of questions repeats itself. I, personally, am happy to know that I don't have to have all of the answers to this infinite amount of questions. I just have to have the answer to one. "Jesus is Lord".
